SUSTAINABILITY VOYAGE

Manufacturing

Currently, items are handmade in our little Celtic studio in South Wales and are one off pieces, or just a few made of each piece. Eventually, we hope to expand, but will only do so when we find a viable sustainable option.

Garments are created with sustainability in mind from the zero waster pattern cutting process right through to the final packaging.

Zero Waste Initiative

Holey scrap is a small project launching alongside Ostara Rose, created as our zero waste initiative.

We aim to minimise waste as much as possible but some is unavoidable due to the nature of design.

Holey Scrap is a project which provides waste material to artisans around the UK for artistic and creative projects such as Patchwork and Textile design.

Reactivate

Another project which we have undertaken to slow fast fashion and help lengthen the life span of fast fashion clothing.

Reactivate is a clothing exchange platform event which runs twice yearly currently and provides people a chance to exchange clothing they have sitting around in their closets and swap it with other likeminded people.

Reactivate hosts an upcycling demonstration to encourage reuse of fabric and provide inspiration for reuse of garments to lengthen their lifespan.

Fabrics

We aim to use remnant or deadstock fabric where possible which we source locally or during Natasha’s adventures abroad. We focus on highly textural fabrics and sustainable fabrics such as Ramie, which is made from nettles.

We are constantly on the lookout for new sustainable  innovations

Carbon Neutrality

Our studio utilises the Reap Petite carbon capture data program and in addition we use the GHG Emissions Calculation Tool to calculate our carbon footprint.

When absolutely necessary (for flights and shipping carbon usage) we offset what we cannot avoid using gold standard.

Our first plan is to support ‘Sidrap’ Wind farm project in Indonesia.

A renewable wind project providing sustainable energy to 70’000 Indonesian Homes.
